On 30 October 2004 I met Ernie and Sherry several years ago when I traveled to Louisville to take part in the Green River Writers annual Novels in Progress Workshop. As my high school English teachers will attest, I’m generally meter challenged, but listening to these two read their poetry has never failed to move me. Ernie co-founded Green River Writers 20 years ago with her late husband Jim. She remains the heart and soul of a writing organization that draws writers from across the country to its workshops and monthly readings. Sherry Chandler is the incoming president of Green River Writers and a founding member of the poetry group Mosaic.
